The British Beer & Pub Association (BBPA), referred to as "the voice of pubs and brewers," represents its members that produce 90% of British beer and manage 20,000 pubs nationwide.

The BBPA provides expertise and policy guidance to government, political stakeholders, and the media to support a thriving pub and brewing sector across the UK.

The involvement with the BBPA has deepened our understanding of the vital role pubs and breweries play in our society, as well as the invaluable support that the association provides to its members.

Euro 2024: Vox Pop

We worked with the BBPA to produce a series of Vox Pop-style videos based around the 2024 Euros football competition, capturing insights from pub-goers and bar staff about why pubs are the ideal venue for watching sports.

Sporting events, such as the European Football Championship, provide a significant boost to pubs and breweries, as sports enthusiasts often choose to watch games in pubs to enjoy the vibrant community atmosphere and sense of camaraderie.

Our team, joined by members of the BBPA, spent the day visiting pubs, affiliated with the association, across London. We engaged with a wide range of individuals, gathering their perspectives on why pubs are the desired venues for enjoying the Euros.

200th Anniversary of the British Pint: Vox Pop

Similar to our work on the Euros Vox Pop project, we were asked to create another series celebrating the 200th Anniversary of the British Pint.

This initiative focused on highlighting the enduring significance of pubs, particularly the pint within our society, as well as its centuries-old tradition of bringing communities together.

In this video, pub-goers were asked the question, "What does the pub mean to you?" Many highlighted the social aspects and the quality of the products they enjoy. The BBPA also sought to emphasise the significant rise in the cost of a pint, put in place by the government, and its negative impact on both publicans and their customers.

In this case study, we explored the importance that pubs have on local community and the challenging future many face due to rising costs, which are deterring their patrons.
